She enjoyed travelling with her family, was a foodie, and was known to enjoy a fine wine or a wee dram of scotch with friends. Sue loved her “boys”, cats Briggs and Paul. Visiting scientists were often hosted to a good home-cooked meal or an outdoor grill on the deck. She was also a dedicated supporter of the city’s Farmers Market which, in turn, contributed to her legendary Christmas parties and backyard barbeques. Sue was an avid gardener, and her back yard was on full plant display every summer. She travelled throughout Canada, the U.S., Mexico, Europe, South Africa, South America, and China as a well-respected invited speaker. She was one of the strongest advocates of biological control for both Canada and the world. Sue was a visionary, a world-class scientist, and valued collaborator in her area of specialty. She moved to Saskatoon in 1995 and spent 29 years with the biocontrol group. Upon graduation, she moved to Regina to begin her post doc position at Agriculture and Agri-Food Canada and was subsequently offered a permanent Research Scientist position in the area of biological control of weeds. all from the University of Alberta in Plant Science. She is survived by her twin sister Sylvia Boyetchko (Alfred Nykolyn), sister Nancy Legere (John Legere), and brother Ralph Boyetchko. She was born on Januin Victoria, BC to parents Philip and Lisa. Susan (Sue) Boyetchko passed away unexpectedly on Wednesday, Februat the age of 64.
